Baylor Democrats is incredibly pleased with and excited about the turnout. Our first meeting will be August 29th in Draper 329 at 7pm! We look forward to welcoming back current members and ushering in new ones, esp. with Late Night being such a success – sic ‘em!

The 8th of November 2011 provided Texans an opportunity to amend the State Constitution. With ten Constitutional Amendments on the state-wide ballot, citizens held a referendum on a multitude of issues from approving the continued sale of state bonds to provide state-subsidies student loans to benefit reforms for spouses of disabled veterans. Of the ten, eight passed with the exceptions being Propositions 4 and 8. The results are as follows:
Proposition 1 [Tax exemption for surviving spouse of veteran]
IN FAVOR: 82.88%
AGAINST 17.11%
Proposition 2 [Texas Water Development Board issue additional bonds not exceed 6 Billion]
IN FAVOR: 51.52%
AGAINST: 48.47%
Proposition 3 [Issue bonds to finance education loans to students]
IN FAVOR: 54.52%
AGAINST: 45.47%
Proposition 4 [Permit county to issue bonds for development]
IN FAVOR: 40.28%
AGAINST: 59.71%
Proposition 5 [Allow city and county to enter interlocal contracts]
IN FAVOR: 57.77%
AGAINST: 42.22%
Proposition 6 [General Land Office distribute revenue for public education]
